Bringing Smiles to Our Vulnerable Elderly: A Journey of Compassion
At the Isioma Humanitarian Foundation, we believe that everyone deserves to live with dignity, especially our vulnerable elderly who have contributed so much to their communities. That’s why we launched the (Elder Smile Project)—a heartfelt initiative aimed at providing monetary assistance to over 300 vulnerable elderly individuals across the South-South region, beginning with Bayelsa State.
From August 26th to 28th, we spent three days on the ground in Bayelsa, visiting communities like Famgbe, Opolo, Ogu, Yeneka, Ikolo, Biogbolo, Aguduma, Otuokpoti, Azikoro, Agbura, Elebele/Imiringi, Agudama, Agbia, and more. During our time there, we met many vulnerable elderly individuals who touched our hearts—some of them are struggling with illness and are in desperate need of better care and support.
Seeing the challenges these elders face every day reminded us why we do this work. At ISHF, our vision goes beyond just providing aid; we’re here to spark real change, raise awareness, and elevate consciousness about the needs of the most vulnerable among us. We’re not just about short-term fixes—we want to make lasting improvements that uplift lives.
The stories we heard and the conditions we witnessed have strengthened our resolve. These vulnerable elderly individuals deserve so much more—better medical care, more compassion, and the kind of support that allows them to live out their days in peace and comfort.
We can’t do it alone. We’re calling on you—individuals, NGOs, and government bodies—to partner with us in this mission. Let’s come together to support our vulnerable elderly, ensuring they’re treated with the respect and care they deserve. We all have a role to play in making sure our elderly are not forgotten.
